Today's(and yesterday's) work on the house...

It's Mud Season!

So, the kids are back to enjoying the mud at the end of our driveway. After 45 minutes of trying to keep Callie out of the mud while the boys played(she doesn't have rain boots) I finally gave up and let her just play in it. She seemed to like it:
The boys could play all day:
My lovely little mud-loving children:

I sure can't wait for that "mudroom" to be done. It will literally be a mud room. P.S. Tate is wearing underwear in these pictures...that's right, the potty training has begun. Ugg.

About time.

Well, its about time I posted a blog again. I haven't been interested in the computer lately, its been too nice out to want to be inside on the computer. We're done with our ECFE class, so we don't have a lot going on, except to enjoy the sunshine! Here is what our house looks like after the week of work.

The new mudroom has been insulated and polyed and is ready for sheet rock.

Here are a couple pictures of my adorable kids:

Weeks progress.

There was some progress done this week. I must admit I thought more would get done, but I think a lot of it was putzy work, so it took more time. Here are some pictures:

There is still more trim to be put up, and Brent ran the plumbing out to the addition, so it is ready to be finished off. I demolished the dining room yesterday and Brent and I put on a couple sheets of sheetrock in the dining room last night:

It's beginning to feel more like spring around here. I've gone on a couple walks with the kids, and they are happy to be outside. Callie really likes being outside. I feel like this is the first time she's been outside, b/c she was so little last year. She loves stepping on the snow and exploring around the yard. The only problem I've encountered so far is that she wants to be splashing in the puddles with her big brothers, so I am on the lookout for rain boots for her(do they even make them that small???).

Callie is such a big "help" with the laundry. She loves to grab clean clothes and throw them on the floor while I'm trying to fold them. I spend half the time picking the clothes back up off the floor, and while I'm doing that she's pulling more off:

We're heading off to the cities in a few hours, so I better go pack. Happy Easter!

A post mostly about the kids!

It seems like all I've been posting about lately is the house, for obvious reasons, but I thought I'd put some pictures up of the kids on here. Brent and I spent the afternoon at the carpet store basement painting the 62 boards that will be our new exterior trim. They are getting them tomorrow morning and are going to start putting them up!! Brent and I just put a coat of mud on one of the living room walls b/c we HATE the texture that has been up there since we bought the house. We thought a cheap fix would be to mud over it, so that is just one of the projects we're doing. Anyway, enough about the house.

Hunter has been so cute during this whole remodeling process. He just loves to help Brent and pretty much follows him around like he's his shadow. Brent was cutting a hole in the floor for the new plumbing tonight and ran into an unexpected problem and was standing with his hands in his pocket thinking of a solution(which he did cause he's awesome) and Hunter stuck his hands in his pocket and stood right next to him. It's really cute to see. Here is a picture of the boys covering their ears while Brent was cutting that hole:
The kids haven't been feeling the greatest. I took Tate to the Urgent Care the other night b/c he had a fever of 104.6 and his throat was so swollen he could hardly talk. They just said he had the phantom virus that was going around. It was kind of hectic, b/c it takes close to an hour to get all the way to the clinic we went to, and I had just an hour to get there after making the appointment. I left the other two kids with my friend and left the rolls I had spent all afternoon making in the oven with nine minutes left to hopefully finish cooking with the oven shut off while I was gone. I was pleased to find when I got home that the rolls did indeed turn out, which was good b/c I was STARVING. The kids all have a runny nose now and Hunter had a fever yesterday. Brent had a fever last night and this morning, and I've got a constant tickle in my throat. Can I just say how eager I am for the sick season to BE OVER! I feel quarantined here not wanting to get any of my friends or their kids sick, but I'd sure like to see them! Here are some more pictures that I took today:

Tate and Callie looking at book together, actually getting along, something that is turning out to be rare with those two:

Door and window are IN!

Here's what the guys got done this afternoon.

House Pictures

Well, siding should be on next week! The addition is coming along nicely, with our friend coming over tomorrow to rough in the electrical. Brent and I got a couple of samples of tile yesterday to get that figured out. We also have to paint all the trim for around the house by Monday, this will prove to be interesting since we can't take the kids where the wood is, there's just too much for them to get into. I might attempt it after naps and take the pack and play and the portable dvd player since Brent will be gone till later. We'll see how daring and ambitious I feel. Here are some pictures!

Oh, and P.S. we went with color number one for siding colors. I hope it looks nice!

The PantRy is done!

Well, I put the finishing touches of poly on today, so the pantry is done, except for trimming it out. I even started moving some of my groceries into it. I'm going to take my time and figure out how to get the most out of my new space. I love it already, though! Take a look:
It's still looking a bit rough in there, though!
