Oh Bathtime.

Today was bathday. We don't usually bathe the kids as much as we do in the summer, for obvious reasons. One, they don't get as dirty, and two, their skin gets SO dry. Tate usually has patches of dry skin that I just slather lotion on twice before I put his clothes on. So we'll go a few days without baths in the winter. So, w/out fail, EVERY lunchtime on bathday Tate rubs his food in his freshly washed hair. OH!! It is so irritating! Can we just have a day of clean hair before he mashes banannas or peanut butter or syrup or sticky fruit juice or macaroni in his hair?? It is a little irritating and I am begining to think he does it on purpose. Brent said that the boys like to get a rise out of me just like he does. Brent does like to get a rise out of me, and is pretty good at it when he tries. I'm thinking of purchasing a shower cap for said days.

We went to the library today to pick up some new books. The system of only getting ten books is wonderful, I just looked for the ten books we had to return and went about my business. Tate was fascinated with the "library cat". Our library has a black cat that roams around, and Tate even followed it into the staff area. Tate loves books so much. Both the boys do. Tate's new thing is when we get in the van to go somewhere, before I even have him strapped in he's saying, "Book! BOOK!!!! BOOK!!!" until I can give him a book. Then he'll throw the book on the floor after he's looked at it and demand another one. I'm getting pretty good at handing them to him while driving, but pretty soon we are moving the boys to the back bench, and we'll have some problems then.

After Hunter's quiet time today we read some books for awhile and then I told him I had to do a little bit more cleaning. I asked if he could go to the basement and pick up all the toys that Brent had brought down to make a racetrack for him awhile back, and he lugged up all the toys. It was so cute, he's learned to take a basket and fill it up to save time and energy, so I heard him grunting up the stairs with a basket full of cars. He's a great helper.

Speaking of cleaning, I am pretty sure I'm nesting. I woke up this morning just anxious and overwhelmed. I want to scrub and organize. I've had to give myself talks that I'll still be able to clean when the baby comes and to just chill out. I finally made a to do before baby list just so I could see all of it down on paper and be able to cross some things off. I've been washing up the baby clothes and put them in the dresser today and I organized the linen closet, so that is good. I have the strongest desire to wash all the doors down, which I think is very strange. That makes me think its nesting, as that is not a "normal" chore for me(or anyone, right?).

The boys found the bathing robe things that we have while I was cleaning the linen/bath closet, we have a duck and a Nemo one, so they wore those all over. They looked pretty cute:

My parents are spending the night in Owatanna tonight and will be here sometime tomorrow early afternoon for the weekend. I am so excited, its been since Christmas since I've seen them, so it'll be fun. Then they'll be coming back in hopefully less than a month to meet the baby!

I'm starting another gall attack right now, not really excited about that, but I have felt so blessed not to have had one since Friday. That break has sure been nice.

I'll end with a funny joke that was in the MOPS newsletter yesterday:

Two little kids are in a hospital, lying on stretchers next to each other, outside the operating room.
The first kid leans over and asks, "What are you in here for?"
The second kid says, "I'm in here to get my tonsils out and I'm a little nervous."
The first kid says, "You've got nothing to worry about. I had that done when I was four. They put you to sleep, and when you wake up they give you lots of Jell-O and ice cream. It's a breeze."
The second kid then asks, "What are you here for?"
The first kid says, "A circumcision."
The second kid replies, "Whoa, good luck buddy. I had that done when I was born. Couldn't walk for a year!"
